Janelle Stockman Biography

Janelle was born in Utopia, a community located 240 kilometres north east of Alice Springs known for its quality art.
Janelle’s grandfather is Billy Stockman, one of the original members of the Papunya Tula artists. Janelle only began painting in 2001 and sadly passed away in November 2009.

Janelle’s works are contemporary in feel, due to the colours she uses and the subject matter of her works. Janelle wished to create a new style, and draws inspiration from a number of sources such as the landscape and stories from her past. Janelle did not wish to depict traditional Dreamtime stories, but for her paintings to be an expression of herself.

Janelle’s work features in collections in Australia and overseas.
