Born into an impressive artistic family in the Utopia region of the Central Desert, Ruby has learned her craft from some of the best. As the daughter of Mary Kemarre Morton and Billy Stockman Morton, art has always been in her blood as her vast array of work clearly demonstrates. Her family includes her four talented sisters, Lucky, Sarah, Audrey and Hazel - all internationally accomplished artists. Raised by a generation of indigenous artists of the 1970s, when Western craft practices and traditional Indigenous imagery were combined for the first time, Ruby Morton inherited the creative artistic gene.
