Biography:
Annie is an emerging artist from Utopia, a community located 240 kilometres north east of Alice Springs known for its quality art.
The majority of Annie’s works depict the seeds of the Alpar, or rat tail, plant. This plant was an important food and medicinal source. In the past these seeds were ground into a powder that was used for making damper. The leaves could also be ground and mixed with animal fat to make into an ointment, or soaked and used as a medicinal wash.
Annie’s works are characterised by the use of a fine dotting technique, often in a limited palette of white on black.
