Various Glass work
Summer Mathews is a Barkindji woman who retains close connections with the community of Menindee to strengthen her ties to family and country.
Summer paints her country onto glass using native bush tucker, the Murray-Darling River and waterholes with ceremonial motifs including emu feather as her inspiration. Summer also paints Mt Manara where Ngatji, the Rainbow Serpent came out of the ground and created the landscape, weaving in and out of waterholes and along course ways.
Summer operates the small glass studio 'Ngatji Glass', focusing on Indigenous contemporary art expressed in various glass forms including slumped glass and hot fired free form work.
