"As coastal people, my ancestors lived near the beach and rivers that ran throughout our area. These waterways were abundant with food. The beach is a great resource for Aboriginal people for many reasons, which include easy hunting for emu, kangaroos and goannas in the Bundjalung Country. Our people gathered shellfish, turtles, seashells and other sea life for food, jewellery and weaponry, which were traded with neighbouring tribes. The Sand dunes are where our people would gather to share in our culture and traditions and celebrate being together with family and other members of their clans." Bundjalung Sean.
