Mary Jones is daughter to Myrtle Petyarre. (Myrtle Petyarre with her sisters Ada, Gloria, Kathleen, Violet, Jean and Nancy Petyarre are all highly respected artists). Mary’s sister, Gracie Morton Ngale (Pwerle), is also a respected artist. She is married to Donald Kngwarreye Jones.
Mary and her sisters predominantly paint the Anwekety (Bush Plum) Dreaming, which they have inherited from their father. It belongs to Ahalpere country in the Utopia region. All have a very refined style, often working their whole canvas with patterns of tiny dots.
