Kudditji Kngwarreye

My Country, 2013

Acrylic on linen
153 x 120 cm
60 x 47 in

Kudditji paints his country where he remembers taking the younger boys through their initiation ceremonies. He would teach them about the emu ancestors and at the same time how to hunt emu. This is the country he paints. He has been compared to the Impressionists because of his ability to play with light on the canvas and also to Mark Rothko due to his utilisation of squares.
