Yam Dreaming

Acrylic on linen
120 x 90 cm
47 x 35 in

Anna's Yam Seed Dreaming in an intricate series of dots (seeds) and lines (tracks) that track back to the songs and stories associated with her plant totem, the Bush Yam, and its seeds.

The Bush Yam has been a staple food and water source for the Anmatyerre people for millennia and the seeds that scatter from the plant are collected and ground up to make flour for damper (bush bread).

During ceremonies Anna pays homage to the yam seeds for their abundance and regenerative qualities.
