MacDonnell Ranges, 2018

Acrylic on canvas
169 x 124 cm
67 x 49 in

This painting represents the Caterpillar Dreaming which formed part of the MacDonnell Ranges, Alice Springs. There are waterholes which have great ceremonial significance. This story is from my eastern Arrernte Tribe dreaming.

One of the sacred waterholes is Heavitree Gap. Heavitree Gap is the only access to Alice Springs from the South. The next is Emily Gap and that is where the caterpillars came together to start the Caterpillar Dreaming Trail. The next waterhole is Jessie Gap which is a ceremonial place.
