Reanelle comes from a very remote area 340km north-east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory called Willowra. Her language group is Wilpiri. She comes from a bloodline of very talented artist including her grandmother Mary Ross, her aunts Janet Long Nakamarra and Eva Nelson Napaltjarri and she is also related to well known Aboriginal artist Dadu Nungarrayi Gorey. Watching her aunts and grandmother paint from a very early age has made Reanelle an exceptional artist in her own right and one to keep an eye on.
Her Dreaming stories are related to Waterholes and their whereabouts that were regarded as life or death in the desert. Knowing where they were and how to find them was prized knowledge that was regarded and respected highly in the community; she also depicts the Damper Seed Dreaming which was an essential ingredient to make bush bread that’s made from the grinding of the seeds to make the flour for the damper.
